Jayson Jenkins, better known as Mick Jenkins, is an American hip-hop recording artist born in Huntsville, Alabama and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Jenkins is a member of Free Nation, a hip-hop group that promotes creative thought without accepting narrow views imposed by the powers that be.
Jenkins built a strong buzz online with a series of acclaimed mixtape. Now, one of those collections is available in physical format for the first time ever, with a limited-edition vinyl pressing of The Water[s]. Originally released online in late 2014, The Water[s] features appearances from fellow rising stars Joey Bada$$ and Noname Gypsy, plus production from Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, DJ Dahi, and many more.
XXL called the project an “indisputable success”, declaring Jenkins “a formidable opponent to some of hip-hop’s most highly regarded MCs”. Centred around the idea of comparing water to life’s truths, The Water[s] has garnered national attention and serves as Jenkins’ breakout project.
Mick is currently preparing to release his debut album “THC (The Healing Component)”. The Healing Component is in reference to love being a healing component and love being able to heal all. More information on the highly anticipated album will be announced soon.
